Our Philosophy

Philosophy / Ethos

The ethos extends beyond the kasbah's walls to engage with the local community. Kasbah Bab Ourika becomes a responsible member of the surrounding villages, contributing to the well-being of the people and the area. This could involve supporting local artisans, employing community members, or participating in initiatives that enhance the quality of life for those in the vicinity. The ethos is one of symbiosis, where the prosperity of the Kasbah is intertwined with the prosperity of the community.

Genuine experience and hospitality

Our philosophy is not merely about providing lavish accommodations but about creating an authentic, immersive experience that honors the local culture and landscape.

Constructed principally from Pisé (rammed earth), the traditional Berber building technique, it blends easily with the rock and earth around it. Thick walls provide natural insulation in Summer and Winter to ensure a balanced temperature.

At The Kasbah Bab Ourika, luxury is synonymous with authenticity, and every moment is an opportunity to engage with the spirit of the Atlas Mountains and the vibrant culture that surrounds it.

At the outset the kasbah provided essential training to ensure that the majority of our staff are from the nearby villages. This policy has been successful and we are one of the largest employers in the Valley. This provides much needed employment in the area and ensures that the Kasbah is integrated into the local community.

In addition the Kasbah has tried to show its commitment to the local Douar (Village ) by instigating various initiatives and actively participating.

The kasbah sponsored the creation of extra water storage to provide running water to the houses in the village below. Local government provided pumps and funds to complete this water distribution.

We encouraged foreign companies and guests to sponsor the activities of the local school and we have many return guests who have kindly arranged packages to be sent with essential materials such as books and writing equipment.
